About autocreate740

I am a senior citizen retired after working for 50 years in various professions. I find social media intriguing, blogging uplifting, and technology in general a welcomed challenge. My newest interests are Aromatherapy and Essential Oils. I have recently acquired an Aromatherapist Certification from the New York Institute of Aromatics. I write about all of these interests as topics on my various blogs. I am hopeful that the posts I create bring information that is useful and moves my readers to explore more.

In the know about Technology

canstockphoto12223026Every now and then Tech4Boomers likes to take a break from presenting just one aspect of technology.  Everywhere we look today we  glimpse, and hear of,  a new idea:  Microsoft Word, new Apps, and various ways to protect ourselves  on-line are constantly being created. This makes it very hard to keep up-to-date. This post brings some things, which we think could be useful to know. Continue reading

What did you do the last time you parked your car, and when you went to pick it up you could not remember where to look for the car?   Did the BabyBoomer friends you were having all that fun with recall where you parked the car? Continue reading

Helping with Internet Sustainability

canstock8165132When Windows XP was released in October 2001 it was available in 25 languages.  So as I read a recent article by Tony Bradley of TechRepublic stating that the Windows XP Operating system poses a greater risk than Heartbleed, I wondered how many of those XP users had upgraded their operating system. canstockphoto11531826In 1926, Dr. Woodson initiated the celebration of Negro History Week, which corresponded with the birthdays of Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln.  In 1976, this celebration was expanded to include the entire month of February, and today Black History Month garners support throughout the country as people of all ethnic and social backgrounds discuss the black experience.   Continue reading

Job APPS Savvy

mobile productivityThere is no longer any doubt that in today’s world often we use technology to help us with our lives. As a matter of fact, JOB HUNTING is no longer done in the old-fashioned way, and I don’t mean newspapers. I’m sure most of you are familiar with the on-line application process.  Making your way through the many application requirements, and then hoping that you will be among the very lucky prospective candidates to get a response can be frustrating, to say the least. Prevent phone freeze

To keep phones from getting too chilly, don’t leave them alone in the elements, like in a parked car. Stashing your phone inside pockets closest to your person, where they can absorb some of your body heat, is best.  If you do need to leave it behind, turn the phone off instead of just putting it to sleep. Over time, we have all been in this terrible situation at least once when the ‘help’ we called asked us for our ‘Recovery Disc’.  This was probably your first training session on why you ‘need’ a  ‘Recovery Disc’  stashed away in a safe place.
